Now I don't know about you but I don't need nanotechnology to beat the pong - I have a freezer. Anything the slightest odoriferous in the way of footwear is wrapped in a plastic bag and consigned to the frozen food department for a couple of hours. The broccoli and peas don't notice a thing and the offenders are easily thawed.

Completely unnecessary I'm told by the innovation specialists - if I have a new Samsung washing machine - the one that sprays silver particles into the tub during the wash cycle. Socks and undergarments are supposed to remain germ free for a whole month of Sundays and you don't even have to change

And it's true - you can buy sports socks pre-treated with fungicides -don't know if you're supposed to stop using them when the symptoms disappear - maybe ithey're a preventive for dormant fungus
