medical woes
We attended a small party of late where the majority of guests were 55+. The particular group had known each other since their teens, most had moved to various parts of Australia and OS. The one thing that struck me was the level of conversation with the majority of the guests... it revolved around their minor illnesses, hospital visits and such. There was very little stimulating conversation ..just a bunch of whiners, fair enough if they have had a rough trot..but really...do we have to hear about every pain, stitch etc????
What is with some people, as they age they seem to talk about nothing other than their medical agenda?
There were a few people there that have had very serious medical complaints and yet they never said a word about their worries.
We have to remember, there is always someone worse off than yourself.

Re: medical woes
Reminds me I was once sitting in a train carriage with a woman who asked me out of the blue if I wanted to see her operation scar. Before I could say yes or no she lifted her dress - I was speechless
She'd just had a heart operation and couldn't resist showing her scar off to somebody. Tell you what I don't want to see another one
Re: medical woes
sad as it may seem, as people get older even minor complaints can affect lifestyle and a large proportion of their time can seem to be taken up with doctor's visits or dealing with one complaint or another so they can become quite focussed about it. But I agree it doesn't have to be the sole topic of conversation.
Re: medical woes
I agree - there's nothing worse than hearing about someone's health crap when you're working like steam to be fit and healthy. I have an aquaintance who positively GLOATED last time she came to see me, because she has had cataracts removed and is getting hearing aid! Well whoopie doo - she then proceded to tell me blow by blow about her cancer recovery, completely forgetting I'd been down that track, So I just ended up telling her to get up, get over it and get on with it. I haven't seen her since. Some people enjoy ill-health!

BD, thanks for the laugh... for a minute I wasn't sure what BM meant....that was the best laugh I have had for days.
I hope I never reach the BM stage....
